Adult: beetles of Elateridae family of about 1 cm. length, dark or black, with a catachrestic elliptical shape and dorsoventrally compressed, with highly developed pronotum that dorsally covers a part of the head.
Larvae: are very polyphagous and live underground. Its main characteristic is the cylindrical and elongated shape, with clearly visible and very sclerotized segments of yellow, orange or brown color, and its hardness. It takes 4 years to fully develop, and at its fourth year of life reach 1.8 to 2.0 cm. Ninfosis is carried out in summer, and adults remain under ground and inside nymphal cover until the following spring.
DETECTION AND MONITORING
Adults start the fly during spring so that the traps should be placed as soon as possible to perform the monitoring of the desired area. This device will allow to detect new outbreaks as a complement of visual inspection. This specie has on annual generation in spring.
